The history of the "American Shangri-La," in reference to Sun Valley, is not too different from the magical village of legend. So, don't be surprised if you catch a glimpse of a world champion, as you carve your way down Bald Mountain. Dollar Mountain, "the finest teaching mountain in the world," caters to the needs of beginners with 10 runs and 628 feet of supportive, nurturing vertical rise. Over 200 experienced instructors are available to hone your alpine, snowboarding, or racing skills. Finely appointed day lodges, a total of 14 lifts and 65 varied runs await on either side of the mountain. Of course, there are many other activities available for your pleasure.

Sun Valley offers a myriad of glimmering shops and boutiques offering everything from exclusive clothing lines to literary gems and custom jewelry. Nothing warms the soul and delights the spirit like the bounty available from Sun Valley's host of restaurants. From robust Idaho fare to a taste of old Italy, you'd be hard pressed to sample all that Sun Valley offers in a single stay. Nights are anything but sleepy. From smooth jazz in a relaxing atmosphere, fresh comedy, first-run stage productions and movies, friendly watering holes and classic theater, Sun Valley promises a wealth of entertainment for every mood or occasion.

A sleigh ride to Trail Creek Cabin for dinner has traditionally been one of the most memorable winter experiences for the whole family. For children, the winter program includes indoor/outdoor play, arts and crafts, alpine skiing and ice skating. Since 1936, skiers from all over the world have been saying that Sun Valley is definitely worth the trip.

Sun Valley is served by Hailey's Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN). It's located 14 miles from the resort and is easily accessible from the gateway sites of Seattle (SEA), Los Angeles (LAX), and Salt Lake City (SLC). These cities are served by most major airlines and are met by Sun Valley's two connecting carriers: Horizon Air (Alaska Airlines) and SkyWest (Delta Connection). Sun Valley Resort offers a complimentary guest resort shuttle for transportation from/to Friedman Memorial Airport and the Sun Valley Resort.

By Bus or Shuttle: Twice daily bus service from Boise Airport (BOI) to the Sun Valley Inn is available, visit www.sunvalleystages.com for information. Sun Valley is a complete walking village, where automobiles are unnecessary. The Sun Valley Resort also offers continuous round-trip service from the Village to both Dollar and Bald Mountains.
