Thursday, May 12 - Board Ship in Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is considered to be a genuine open-air museum filled with charming streets and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While away the day exploring treeshaded Las Ramblas, Spain’s version of the Champs-Elysees, shop for exquisite Lladro ceramics, or ponder the otherworldly architecture of the Church of the Sacred Family, Gaudi’s masterpiece. This is a sight not to be missed. It was started in 1882, but is still unfinished. Take a short ride to Figueres to enjoy the Dali Museum or to Sant Sadurni d’Anoia, location of the Codorniu Champagne Cellars. Tour the Gothic Quarter and Santa Maria dei Mar Church, considered by many to be the best example of Gothic architecture in Cataluna. Then visit the Picasso Museum, situated in the two beautifully preserved Gothic palaces of Berenguer Aguilar and Baron de Castellet. Draped across seven hills, Lisbon was once the center of a vast maritime empire that stretched from the west coast of Africa to the Spice Islands of the East Indies. Today, Lisbon is a stately city of neoclas- sical buildings, wide plazas, ancient castles, and cathedrals. Eternally linked to the sea, Lisbon’ s magniicent harbour is spanned by the longest suspension bridge in Europe. You will want to savour this vibrant city slowly, like a ine port wine. While in Lisbon visit the medieval Alfama district that survived the great earthquake of 1755 and is home to narrow, twisted streets and elaborately decorated old houses; shop in Rossio Square in the heart of the Baixa, the central shopping district; gamble in what is boasted to be the largest casino in Europe, Estoril; or take in the beautiful vistas of the city and harbor in Alto do Parque Belvedere. Wednesday, May 18 - Vigo, Spain
Vigo clings to the slope of Monte del Castro overlooking a namesake bay so vast it could shelter an entire leet. The city’s medieval heritage may be seen in the narrow streets and granite houses of the Ribera del Berbes, the old ishermen’ s quarter. Vigo is also the gateway to Santiago de Compostela, perhaps the most venerated shrine in all Europe during the Middle Ages. Pilgrims from the four corners of Christendom locked to the magniicent cathedral, built between the 12th and 13th centuries. he cathedral still draws thousands of daily visitors today. Other sites include: Pontevedra, the second most historic city in Galicia; Combarro with narrow, Baroque stone houses clinging to stony clifs; and the popular seaside resort of La Toja.

Cherbourg sits on the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula in the Normandy Region of France. here is a ine view of the town and the harbor from the Montagne du Roule. On the hill are the Fort du Roule and the Musée de la Guerre et de la Libération. Notable features in the town itself are the Musée homas Henry (Italian and Dutch paintings), the church of La Trinité (1423-1504; ine interior) and the beautiful Parc Emmanuel Liais with its exotic plants and Natural History Museum. Visit the Normandy beaches, the Saire Valley, Cap de la Hague, or Mont Saint Michel from Cherbourg.

Brussels is a city of ine food, café culture, Art Nouveau architecture and the surreal. Pull up a chair and join laissez-faire locals who value the city’s casual atmosphere. Some of the world’s most enduring images of surrealist art were created in the nondescript northern suburb of Jette. And the architecture ranges from monumental ediices such as the Grand Place to organic Art Nouveau façades and the EU’ s real-life Gotham City.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is designed for Physicians, CRNAs, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, and other medical care providers who must maintain stateof-the-art knowledge of not only the specialty but also of all additional, related disciplines which may impact it.
PROGRAM PURPOSE
The practitioner of anesthesiology must possess the scientific background for clinical practice; maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of not only the specialty, but also of all additional, related disciplines which may impact it; maintain an up-to-the-minute armamentarium of knowledge and skills for the selection and use of complex equipment, pharmacologic agents, and procedures necessary for the provision of quality patient care; manage self and colleagues to function toward common goals in the clinical setting, the clinical and educational institutions, and the community in which the practice resides; serve as an expert in matters involving health care delivery; serve as an informed manager of clinical and educational services provided, including the acquisition and distribution of resources necessary in meeting professional goals; and provide assistance with and support of other service providers, departments, institutions, and organizations dependent upon the professional expertise of the practitioner. Presentations are designed to facilitate the physician, nurse specialist, and other providers maintaining skills of the same kind to review and update knowledge and abilities in one or more of these areas vital to the practicing rofessional.
OBJECTIVES
At the conclu on of this activity, the articipant will be able to:
Discuss the pertinent physical and behavioral sciences - to include but not be limited to advanced anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and social sciences - as they impact and are affected by the planning, delivery, and monitoring of anesthesia and related services inherent in the anesthesia profession.
Explain the selection and dosing considerations with methods of administration, safe use, and contraindications and precautions of presented pharmacological agents through the understanding of their physico-chemical properties, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, updated uses, and more recently developed additional, related, similar drugs.
Outline comprehensive management plans for the group of patients discussed, whether related in age, physical status, cultural background, invasive procedure, anesthetic or analgesic requirements, clinical setting, adverse reactions, and/or goals of care.
Discuss the principles of safety and asepsis in the performance of anesthetic procedures and administrations, equipment use, and other applications encountered during the provision of anesthesia and analgesia whether in the surgical unit, the labor and delivery suite, the pain management clinic, or other more remote location of anesthetizing services.
Discuss incorporation, into practice, the appropriate recommendations and/or requirements of pertinent external organizations, institutions, and professional groups - recognized as serving as the authority for and/ or holding the responsibility to compile and approve such tenets - in the provision of anesthesia and related services, whether medical, legal, philosophical, ethical, or health care management standards.
Describe the new techniques in the clinical setting of the participant.

COURSE CANCELLATION BY PROVIDER
We reserve the right to cancel a course for any reason. In such case, a minimum of 60 days notice will be given to those registered and 100% of tuition paid will be refunded. NWAS and NW-WWT will not be responsible for any non-refundable cruise fare, airfare, hotel, or other liabilities you may incur. We highly recommend purchase of travel insurance.
SCHEDULE AND FACULTY CHANGES
Factors beyond our control sometimes necessitate changes in the schedule and faculty. If time permits, we will inform all registrants of any changes prior to the program. Changes on site due to local conditions will be announced in class.
COURSE CANCELLATION FEE
$100 between Mar. 1 and Apr. 1. No refund ater Apr. 1; however, 50% of tuition paid may be applied toward tuition for another NWAS program within 12 months. Cancellation must be made in writing.
CRUISE CANCELLATION
Penalties apply for cancellation of the cruise for any reason. We strongly recommend purchase of the Cancellation Insurance. Ask Connie or Lisa for details. Please be aware that premiums paid for insurance are nonrefundable.
FAP (Frequent Attendee Points)
FAP lets you accumulate points based on dollars spent with NWAS including net cruise, net hotel, and tuition booked through NWAS (but not air). Once you have enough points to cover a full tuition they can be redeemed for tuition (no cash value). A great program to reward you for supporting NWAS!
