Monday, August 4 - Board Ship in Copenhagen, Denmark
Denmark's capital is sophisticated, saucy, and friendly. Stroll the fairytale world of Tivoli Gardens to take in bright lights and castles that out-Disney Disney. See the city's 200-year-old Royal Palace and the lively Old Harbor - Hans Christian Andersen lived here. Salute the Little Mermaid, symbol of this light-hearted city. Plan your trip to stay over to enjoy this lovely city.
Tuesday, August 5 - At Sea
Wednesday, August 6 - Tallinn, Estonia
This ancient port city has had many a conqueror and a lot of history. The Hanseatic years shaped the face of Tallinn more than any other period. Walking down the cobblestone streets of Old Town, you may feel that you've traveled back in time, rather than across the Baltic Sea. Medieval walls and towers still stand tall in Old Town. Stroll and shop along cobblestone streets, walk up to the Baroque palace, drop in at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to find inspiration in the gleaming mosaics and icons. Possible shore excursions: Highlights of Tallinn; Tallinn & Manor Houses; and Tallinn's Old Town (one of the finest medieval old towns in all of northern Europe is right here in Tallinn).
Thursday-Friday, August 7-8 - St. Petersburg, Russia
Two days to visit the glories of St. Petersburg. The city that Peter the Great laid out on his drawing board is still dramatically evident at every turn. Cathedrals, palaces, and parks line long avenues; bridges connect a series of islands. You can't be here without visiting the State Hermitage Museum, the largest art museum in Russia that ranks among the most prestigious and fabulous museums in the world. Its collection of Western European art is second to none, featuring Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Titian, and others. Also, there is a stunning collection of French art, the largest outside France, displaying works by Degas, Renoir, Monet, Cezanne, Gauguin, and Matisse. Catherine's Palace at Pushkin, ranks as one of the masterpieces of world art. Possible shore excursions: Boat Ride on the Neva River; Catherine's Palace at Pushkin & Pavlovsk; Evening Folkloric Spectacular; Gala Evening at Yusupov Palace; Glories of St. Petersburg; Imperial St. Petersburg; Special Hermitage Museum Tour: "The Golden Room"; St. Petersburg Panoramic Drive; and The Hermitage Museum at the Winter Palace.
Saturday, August 9 - Helsinki, Finland
Shaped by its bays and isles, Helsinki is one of Europe's most scenic capitals. Hear a Sibelius concert or tour across the Arctic Circle to Lapland, land of Santa Claus, reindeer, and the Midnight Sun. Be sure to buy a birchbark basket. Possible shore excursions: An Afternoon Visiting Porvoo & Savijarvi Farm; An Afternoon with Sibelius; Art & Architecture of Finland; Helsinki Boat Tour; Helsinki City Highlights; Porvoo & Savijarvi Farm; Helsinki City Tour; Lapland; Arctic Circle & Santa Claus Tour; and Porvoo & Highlights of Helsinki.
Sunday, August 10 - Stockholm, Sweden
Nature and city planning have combined to make Stockholm one of the most attractive of the world's capitals. Water plays an important part in city life here and no fewer than 50 bridges of every shape and size link Stockholm's 14 islands. So much to see in this charming city, sprawled on 18 islands, often called the "Venice of the North." Cruise the sparkling waterways. Navigate narrow medieval streets. Watch the snappy changing of the guard at the Baroque Royal Palace. Shop for elegant gifts - glassware and stainless steel. Work up an appetite so you can do justice to the lavish smorgasbords. Art and history will be the focus of your tour of Stockholm. Possible shore excursions: Old Town & Millesgarden; Panoramic Stockholm; Royal Palace & Old Town; Mariefred & Gripsholm: City Hall & the Vasa Museum; and Waterways of Stockholm.
Monday, August 11 - At Sea
Tuesday, August 12 - Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany
In Berlin history awaits: Checkpoint Charlie, Unter den Linden, Brandenburg Gate, and the Reichstag. Browse lively Kurfurstendamm for delicate hand-painted porcelain and a snack of beer and bratwurst. Possible shore excursions: Bad Doberan Cathedral & Molli Steam Train to Heiligendamm; Berlin & Potsdam; Berlin Highlights By Train; Guestrow & the Dukes of Mecklenburg; Schwerin - the Capital of Mecklenburg; Treasures of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern; and Wismar & Beer Tasting.
Wednesday, August 13 - Arhus, Denmark
Step back to the Middle Ages in Old Town with its cobbled streets and faultless renditions of half-timbered houses. Shop for unique Danish handcrafts. Explore the ruggedly beautiful Jutland Peninsula and its heathery hills. Possible shore excursions: Arhus City Tour; Historic Walking Tour; Djursland Half-Day; Hans Christian Andersen & Funen Village; Legoland; and Silkeborg & the Highland Lakes of Denmark.
Thursday, August 14 - Copenhagen, Denmark - Disembark

PROGRAM PURPOSE:
The practitioner of anesthesiology must possess the scientific background for clinical practice; maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of not only the specialty, but also of all additional related disciplines which may impact it; maintain an up-to-the-minute armamentarium of knowledge and skills for the selection and use of complex equipment, pharmacological agents and procedures necessary for the provision of quality patient care; manage self and colleagues to function toward common goals in the clinical setting, the clinical and educational institutions, and the community in which the practice resides; serve as an expert in matters involving health care delivery; serve as an informed manager of clinical and educational services provided, including the acquisition and distribution of resources necessary in meeting professional goals; and provide assistance with and support of other service providers, departments, institutions and organizations dependent upon the professional expertise of the practitioner. Presentations are designed to facilitate the physician and nurse specialist and other providers maintaining skills of the same kind to review and update knowledge and abilities in one or more of these areas vital to the practicing professional.

OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
Apply the pertinent physical and behavioral sciences - to include but not be limited to advanced anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and social sciences -- as they impact and are affected by the planning, delivery and monitoring of anesthesia and related services inherent in the anesthesia professions.

Explain the selection, dosing considerations with methods of administration, safe use, and contraindications and precautions of presented pharmacological agents through the understanding of their physico-chemical properties, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, updated uses and more recently developed additional, related, similar drugs.

Outline comprehensive management plans for the group of patients discussed, whether related in age, physical status, cultural background, invasive procedure, anesthetic or analgesic requirements, clinical setting, adverse reactions, and/or goals of care.

Apply the principles of safety and asepsis in the performance of anesthetic procedures and administrations, equipment use and other applications encountered during the provision of anesthesia and analgesia whether in the surgical unit, the labor and delivery suite, the pain management clinic or other more remote location of anesthetizing services.

Incorporate the appropriate recommendations and/or requirements of pertinent external organizations, institutions and professional groups -- recognized as serving as the authority for and/or holding the responsibility to compile and approve such tenets -- in the provision of anesthesia and related services, whether medical, legal, philosophical, ethical, or health care management standards.

Apply the new techniques in the clinical setting of the participant.
